Sister Charities

M.E.F.E.L.: (Mission Evangelical Faith and Liberty).
This is an indigenous group of 70 pastors who formed at the end of the Nicaraguan
Sandinista/Contra civil war. The group was initially formed through work by Franklin
Graham's organization Samaritan's Purse. They work in the poorest parts of Nicaragua,
bringing churches and hope through mission work to these areas.

Project Chacocente (Nicaragua).:
This project has been working since 2003 to help move families away from a difficult
and unsafe lifestyle centered at the Managua dump. 2000-3000 people daily scavenge
the meager remains at this 2 mile diameter municipal dump. 250 families live (often
over several generations) in makeshift dwellings of cardboard, tin and trash bags on
the dump. Project Chacocente has taken 10 families and created a commune outside
Managua where the families and children receive education, and job skills while
learning to live together in a more safe and stable community.

N.P.M.I.: Nicaraguan Prison Ministry:
Bountiful Grace has sent funds to help this outreach ministry to Nicaraguan prisons.
The group, NPMI, supplies hygiene materials to prisoners and leads yearly retreats at
the prisons. It is based out of Lexington, KY

Acts 1:8 :
Bountiful Grace started after meeting with two representatives of the Athens Georgia
based charity, Acts 1:8. Ronnie and Angi Hopkins have been going to Nicaragua on
missionary trips since 1989. Angi was an early member of medical teams assisting the
group MEFEL (see above) The Hopkins have been very instrumental to our various projects
successes. Angi is a nurse practitioner and Ronnie is a youth leader. Bountiful Grace
has recently been sending funds to Acts 1:8 to help support a college scholarship fund
that helps needy students complete their education. Many of these students remain and
work in various mission projects associated with the Hopkins. The Hopkins have become
permanent missionaries with the United Methodist church Mission Society and are stationed
in Tipitapa Nicaragua. There goal is to assist others in completing their work in various
mission work in Nicaragua.
